ELECTRONIC TAPS FOR SAVING WATER
In other article we were talking about the usefulness of mixer taps but today we focus on the electronic taps. These electronic taps are powered by a sensor located therein, which detect the presence of an object under them and which cause water to circulate. Obviously, the main advantage of this type of taps is saving water. They will only work just if the sensor detects an object and never will be open if is not needed.
Initially, this type of taps were designed for bathrooms with a very high use such as the ones installed in hospitals and hotels. Gradually are being incorporated to the equipment of household toilets. They can be installed both toilets and bidets, although there are also models to use in showers and kitchens.
For the shower, the tap detect when a body is detected at a certain minimum distance. These taps are prepared to be regulated and mix cold and hot water through a thermostatic valve or lever. The water flow is regulated the same way.
Typically they work with alkaline batteries, which last a long time and allow the sensor that controls the water works. More sophisticated models require direct electrical current. Batteries are usually situated in a box near the tap, accessible but unobtrusive, so they can be easily replaced.
Water saving can reach even 50% over other tap types. In addition, they are more hygienic than other type of taps because they allow their use without manipulating them, they are less messy and more practical. They can also be disconnected if you have to clean the waterbasin, for example, for them not to throw water when cleaning.
